Concrete Foreman

Objectives and Responsibilities:

The Concrete Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating all concrete construction activities while actively participating in field operations. This position oversees daily production, scheduling, safety, quality, labor, equipment, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with plans, specifications, and safety regulations. The Concrete Foreman works closely with the General Superintendent, Project Manager, and other field leadership to meet project goals while maintaining a safe and productive job site.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Supervision & Project Coordination

  • Plan and organize concrete construction activities by reviewing plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Coordinate daily work activities with the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, and Logistics Coordinator.
  • Supervise and direct concrete crews and subcontractors to ensure efficient workflow and quality workmanship.
  • Monitor daily production, labor, equipment usage, and material needs.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with project requirements and company standards.
  • Enforce job site policies, codes, and regulations to prevent fines, delays, or rework.

Concrete & Field Operations (Hands-On)

  • Perform and oversee concrete work including site preparation, form setting, curb and gutter installation, pouring, finishing, sealing, and cleanup.
  • Assist with building, setting, stripping, cleaning, and storing concrete forms.
  • Assist with tying and placing steel reinforcement for concrete.
  • Operate or assist in the operation of curb and gutter machines and other concrete-related equipment.
  • Mix and place materials as required and ensure proper curing procedures are followed.
  • Perform physical labor as needed, including lifting, carrying, and handling materials up to approximately 65 lbs.

Equipment & Tools

  • Operate and oversee the safe use of hand and power tools including air hammers, tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and related construction tools.
  • Ensure proper care, maintenance, and storage of tools and equipment.

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by enforcing OSHA, MSHA, and company safety policies.
  • Follow and enforce Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS/SDS) guidelines for hazardous materials handling, storage, and disposal.
  • Conduct safety meetings, identify hazards, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Lead by example to promote a culture of safety on the job site.

Communication & Leadership

  • Communicate effectively with crew members, management, subcontractors, inspectors, and customers.
  • Provide clear verbal and written instructions and ongoing guidance to crew members.
  • Train and mentor crew members to improve skills, productivity, and safety awareness.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Foreman in concrete and related construction.
  • Strong working knowledge of concrete construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Proven ability to prepare work plans, schedule crews, and manage daily field operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and grade stakes.
  • Proficient with lasers, line and grade, and general layout techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and job site safety protocols.
  • Computer proficiency and strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Clean driving record and ability to be insured to operate company vehicles.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and perform physical labor as required.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol test.
