Laborer

The Construction Laborer performs a variety of physical labor tasks to support horizontal construction operations, including roadway, grading, underground utility, asphalt, concrete, excavation, and site development projects. This position assists equipment operators, pipe crews, paving crews, and other field personnel while maintaining a safe and productive job site.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform general labor duties on heavy civil and roadway construction projects
• Assist with excavation, grading, trenching, and site preparation
• Support underground utility installation including water, sewer, and storm drain systems
• Assist paving and concrete crews with placement, finishing, and cleanup
• Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment
• Operate hand tools, compactors, jackhammers, saws, and other small equipment safely
• Shovel materials including dirt, gravel, asphalt, and concrete
• Clean and maintain job sites, tools, and equipment
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations
• Work closely with supervisors and crew members to complete projects efficiently
• Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

• Previous construction or labor experience preferred, especially in heavy civil or roadway construction
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday
• Reliable transportation to and from job sites
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
• Knowledge of construction safety practices preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must successfully pass pre-employment and random Drug Tests

 

Work Environment:

• Outdoor construction sites with exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, and heavy equipment
• Frequent walking on uneven terrain
• May require overtime, weekends, and travel depending on project needs
